The Area
Highlands Pass sits in the triangle of
Highlands, Franklin, and Dillard, in the southwestern part of
Macon County, North Carolina. Highlands is a beautiful mountain
town with quaint shops and spas. The Cherokee called the land
that is now Franklin "Nikwasi" or center of activity.
The city still lives up to that name.
Roads and Highways
Highlands Pass is easily accessible and
our roads have their own histories. Travel Highway 441, which
runs from Lake City, Tennessee across the Great Smokey Mountains,
the Blue Ridge Parkway, and all the way to Miami, Florida. Highway
64 is another historic highway running West from Nags Head, North
Carolina to Tec Nos Pos, Arizona traveling through Cashiers, Highlands,
Franklin, Murphy and Chattanooga.
